POPULAR EDUCATION AND TRAINING FOR TRANSFORMATION FOR BEHAVIOUR AND MIND SET CHANGE.

ADTS builds capacity for social transformation and development of community mobilisers, trainers and community members from great lakes countries (Rwanda, Burundi and DRC) through Training for transformation approach to increase their knowledge and skills on different themes and topics including self-discovery, mastering, personal development and self-awareness, development and leadership, gender and feminism, spirituality and human relation skills, social mobilization, facilitation and animation skills, community dialogue and community organizing, organizational development and growing, conflict transformation, social change, cultural values, strategic thinking, planning and Paulo Freire’s critical conscientization.

ENDING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, GBV PREVENTION AND PEACEFUL FAMILY.

ADTS seeks to contribute to end domestic violence, GBV prevention and improve peaceful family through community mobilization, sensitization, workshops and trainings of reflection and critical thinking to end any kind of gender based and domestic violence. Through its network of Ending Domestic Violence Working Groups (EDVWGs) ADTS raises awareness about laws related to:

  • Family and gender issues
  • Human rights
  • Family conflict resolution and transformation
  • Legal marriage sensitization

ADTS provides also psychological support and counselling for those couples facing family conflicts.

SOCIO-ECONOMIC EMPOWERMRNT AND DEVELOPMENT.

Poorest women are strengthened with entrepreneurship and cooperative management through different trainings like voluntary savings and loans methodology, selection, planning and management of income generating activities, cooperative/groups management, leadership and financial education/literacy. In order to promote a culture of savings among poorest women, ADTS initiated and established women’s cooperatives and voluntary saving and loan groups (VSLGs) in different districts around the country of Rwanda. ADTS also provides skills to help women to start their own income generating activities and small businesses.

CITIZEN PARTICIPATION, GOOD GOVERNANCE, LEADERSHIP, PEACE, UNITY AND RECONCILIATION.

ADTS empowers and strengthens different categories of people to take action for leadership roles and responsibilities. ADTS strengthens population at the grassroot level for active participation in good governance, policy making, decision making and self-development through initiating different community dialogues, debates, leadership trainings and workshops. ADTS also contributes in peace, unity and reconciliation through different projects and training courses focusing on peace education, unity and reconciliation.

ADTS builds teenagers and teen mothers’ capacity to restore hope, to improve socio-economic conditions and to transform their lives conditions for better future through trainings, dialogue and helping them to have adequate information on sexual reproductive health, to avoid drugs and to have knowledge on child and woman rights.
